Dear Nobby,

Thank you for your email and for giving us the opportunity to clarify.
Recognizing the initial scale of this disaster, the Canadian Red Cross launched an
appeal early on the morning of Friday, March 11. At that time, the tsunami caused
by the earthquake was still sweeping across the Pacific and it was unclear
where the impacts of this might still be felt. In order to ensure that our fund
would be able to help the most vulnerable people impacted, the name Japan
Earthquake/Asia Pacific Tsunami fund was chosen. Our goal was to be transparent in
the potential use of Canadian donations.

Fortunately, the tsunami's impact on other areas was minimal and as we now
know, the need and Red Cross relief efforts are clearly focused in Japan.
Donations to this fund will absolutely be going to support the people affected in
Japan.

Please do not hesitate to contact me for additional detail or with any other
questions.

Warm regards,

Cay

Subject: Assurance Requested - Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief

Dear Cay,

This is Nobby Miura of New Japanese Canadian Association (NJCA) and
the Family Talks Forum (FTF). I spoke to you several times in the
JC meeting at the JCCC last night.

There is a mounting worry among the people participating in the
fundraising activities for the Red Cross that the money may not be
sent to the relief effort in Japan.

We need a strong assurance from you that ALL THE MONEY donated to
Canadian Red Cross indicating as JAPAN EARTHQUAKE - ASIA PACIFIC
TSUNAMI
in fact goes to the relief effort in Japan.

[] People are concerned about the word "ASIA" in JAPAN EARTHQUAKE -
ASIA PACIFIC TSUNAMI. (Actually I was wondering about the word too)
Some feel that money may be used for the long-term relief effort of
the Indonesian tsunami in 2004.

[] Some people are pointing out the particular sentence:

"Should donations supporting a specific Red Cross disaster relief
effort surpass the amount required, the remainder will be directed
as follows:"

They question who decide this. They want all the money goes to the
relief effort in Japan.

If you cannot give us a clear and strong assurance on this matter
and if we cannot explain it clearly to them, we may have to revise
our plan and send the money directly to Japan in one way or another.

We appreciate a quick reply from you as the things are moving very
quickly in our effort.

Thank you.
