トロント教育委員会からのメッセージ/ Message from TDSB

Post  FTF on Mon Mar 21, 2011 3:00 pm

TO: All Staff

On behalf of everyone at the TDSB, I would like to express my deepest condolences and sorrow for those who have lost friends and family during the earthquake and tsunami that has devastated Japan.

Many of our staff, students, families and community members still have loved ones who are safe and unharmed in Japan, but in need of immediate assistance. While the disaster happened more than a week ago, we have not been able to coodinate a Board-wide effort because of March Break. Now that we have all returned, we must spring to action:

1) We are requesting schools and Board sites to observe one minute of silence on Wednesday, March 23 to remember those who have lost their lives or continue to struggle to survive in the aftermath of this terrible tragedy,

2) We are also asking schools and Board sites to coodinate a Toonie Tuesday event for Tuesday, March 29.

I would ask everyone in the TDSB community to pull together to support the aid and recovery effort in any way they can. No donation, even $1 or $2, is too small - please take action!

The TDSB is supporting the Canadian Red Cross in its relief efforts, which are already underway. To contribute online, please visit www.redcross.ca/tdsb.

While central office support of fundraising for Japan will run until Thursday, April 21 you are encouraged to continue fundraising at your site as long as you feel it is appropriate.

I know we are all very busy getting ready for the final few months of the school year, but I encourage all school communities to help.
